Lost in Thought  is the world’s first ‘mindfulness opera’ byRolf Hind (music/concept) and directed by Frederic Wake-Walker. Based on the classic structure of an extended meditation, it explores the points of contact between sound and silence in music and meditation.

Specially designed for an intimate audience, the boundaries between performer and audience blur as mezzo-soprano Lore Lixenberg and seven musicians accompany you on an inner journey of mindfulness, with periods of meditation, rest, communal eating, and a gentle yoga session.

An immersive four-hour performance,  Lost in Thought combines music and meditation, bringing a new intensity to every sensation – an inner-drama of mindfulness.

Lost in Thought  has its  world premiere at LSO St Luke’s on 25 September 2015 as part of the Barbican’s  Transcender series. The production will then tour across the UK.

Co-produced by Mahogany Opera Group and the Barbican

Performances supported by Nicholas Berwin Charitable Trust and RVW Trust.

Mahogany Opera Group would also like to extend thanks and appreciation to Arts Council England, John Ellerman Foundation, Jerwood Charitable Foundation, King’s College London, PRS for Music Foundation and Sir Siegmund Warburg’s Voluntary Settlement for their support during the creation of the work.
